Oh nuts, leakage

Walked out to find this:

Aw crap. I just spent this month's car money buying another Corrado. Everyone needs 4, right?

I guess I should not have removed the bumper and cleaned the rads/condensers last month. Must have been the leaves & cigarette butts holding it together.

On the plus side...if you HAVE to find coolant leaking from one end of your 911 or the other...

Understeer: You will hit the wall with the front end.
Oversteer: You will hit the wall with the rear end.
Horsepower: How hard you will hit the wall.
Torque: How far you will move the wall.

it could be as simple as the drain plug caps that are clamped onto the radiator drain ports. not inconceivable that they could dry out and start to seep thru a crack. Should be able to check and if necessary replace with minimal coolant loss.

best of luck

Hope you should be so lucky. Just replaced 2 rads on the 4S last month and did both on the C2 cab last fall. Ah, the joy of owning older cars...

Well it's fascinating. That puddle definitely was coolant and there was coolant in the tray above under the rad. I took that picture Friday. Since then I have driven 150 miles and not another drop.
Another thing is that coolant was the green stuff. I believe this car was serviced with red or pink coolant though I can't remember, need to check. Now I am thinking I may have driven through a puddle of coolant on the way into the office park.

As soon as I have another car running I'll take the bumper off again and check.

Code: Select all

1978 Datsun 280Z -> in storage garage.
1992 Corrado (red) -> track car, can't drive in the rain or the MAF gets ruined
1993 Corrado (purple) -> needs shift linkage fixed
1993 Corrado (green) -> new, not yet registered, no plates
1993 Corrado (rust) -> no state inspection
