Yeah, I did think of that. Well, an insurance guy came out to the house today to look at the car. He will get me numbers tomorrow.

Do you think they might negotiate on buy back price?

Zero time or interest in parting it. So, either take the cash and find a new car, or buy back and fix on the cheap.

You could always offer them less on the buy back as it would solve their problem of going through a reclaimer deal; they may take it to get it off their books quicker. My question is what do you want to do and end up with? Buy back then spend $$ and waiting time to get it fixed then always have a repaired car or take the $$ and run to another car you could love. Do you love the car or could you love a different one as well. Regardless of all the "expert" opinions you will get it comes down to your comfort level and what YOU want. Good luck with your decision...glad it's not me. Assume physically you are now fine?
Never gonna make you cry...

If you have a lot of free time and garage space, you could buy back the car to sell the motor for a profit. Other than that...take the money and move on.

Bill, it is a tip.

Plot thickens.... buy-back price is not negotiable. But, turns out I have some sort of a rider on my policy where they pay me 20% more than the value, so i should get about $28 k for it.
