With all the people having wrecks in 996 world, I've decided to keep mine parked. I think I'll crawl under a rock too  I blame it on the IMS!

Just checking back in to see how many more thousands of dollars Crooked Cuda has bilked out of the insurers. Terrible...it's terrible the way he takes advantage of the poor insurers. So much fraud! Each of those insurers started out with what, a small loan of maybe a million dollars? And still he keeps going back again and again. Never before in the history of our country have more 996 owners been bilking insurers...but you won't find that statistic in the Fake Porsche News!

Got a call yesterday from the younger son who's a freshman in college. His fraternity pledge class went on a walkout (road trip) this weekend. Of course, Max drove his car, the '06 955S. One hour from home, they pulled off the highway for gas and to switch drivers. His buddy was driving. His buddy ran into another car somewhere between exiting the highway and the gas station (I don't know any of the details). Front left corner damage to the Cayenne (see pic). He calls me, I call the insurance company. Yep, doesn't matter if it was another person driving the Cayenne - it's going to count against our insurance. And of course, I have no collision insurance on the Cayenne. So, I guess we'll see if the driver (or his parents) are going to fix the Cayenne. I figure that's only fair since my insurance is paying for their son's fuck up. Of course, the bigger fuck up was my son taking his car in the first place. Good news is that it was a fender bender and there were no injuries.

Other kid's insurance should be picking that up, not yours. At worst your's should be involved to make the kid's insurance pay up, but that shouldn't be dinging your policy.

Unless you have Progressive. I went through that shit with them when a trash company fucked up my old XK8. They literally did nothing either as the trash company's insurance paid up as soon as I told them I referred it to my insurance. Dropped them and went back to USAA which included a significant rate drop and that's when I learned Progressive was screwing me by trying to raise my rates for someone else's fault.

Well, I've got USAA and that's what they told me yesterday: my insurance will pay as primary. The driver's insurance will only be involved if my policy doesn't cover something.

I figured something like this would happen sooner or later, but I figured it would at least be my own son's screw up that I'd be stuck paying for. The damage to the Cayenne doesn't look too bad: a $300 driver's side headlight unit (used), replacement front bumper cover ~$500 plus some paint. If I was paying for it out of pocket, I'd say around $1,500 by the time I pay my buddy's body shop for the labor. The pisser is it counting against our insurance.

That sucks KC.

My buddy pulled a similar idiotic stunt, and by his own admission he could not have picked a more expensive car to nail.

He was driving his friend's mom's brand new 2017 s550 and was trying to merge in the main road from the side street. Somehow he misjudged his maneuver.... And T-boned a brand new R8 V10. $250k in cars heavily damaged. And cops gave him a ticket for something too. I don't know how insurance situation worked out after or if he is still friends with the s550 owner's son.

That sucks.

I'm going to give the driver the benefit of the doubt and assume there were a couple of hookers sitting in his lap. If not, and he just ran into another car...get the man a bus pass...

To be fair if he was used to driving a similar sized SUV and this was his first experience driving a Cayenne I can totally see a muscle memory of "I have to mash the gas 2 minutes ahead of when I want to move" not working out as expected.

KC could have gotten his son a nice base model with the ultra reliable VR6 that likes to contemplate moving like a normal SUV, but nooooo... he goes and buys him a V8 model and now look where we are!
