The '07 Cayman has a ridiculous amount of track stuff on it,especially for a non-S. I'm going to take it back to stock and sell it on BaT. 90% of the track parts were sold before I even picked the car up.

The '99 was on facebook and happened to be 8 miles from the Cayman. It's a stripped and caged C2 that was never finished. It was actually caged here in OKC by a very reputable builder. I really didn't want to get it but it was cheaper than a roller and has a good engine and tranny with 109k miles on it. So it will make a fun project as well.

My goal is to make enough off of these and my other two projects to pay for my racing this year. So far it looks like it's going to work.

That's pretty sweet. Going Miata for a track car was the best track related financial decision I ever made. I can't imagine how deep I'd be if I was running something expensive at the track. In calendar year 2017 my tire expenses were $0.00. Bought a new set in late 2016 and finally destroyed those in late 2017.

Still have a set of RA1s that I use as rain tires that I might convert to dry use and wait to buy more when I destroy those, probably April or so.

So me and 3 996 buddies rented a house in Elkhart Lake, WI in July for a track weekend with MVP at Road America. Outside of the normal track tools to bring I have a dilemma.

I run track oil for DE in my car that is good for 650 miles. The trip there is around 300 miles. 6 runs a day at 20-25 minutes each will bring approx another 384 miles. I'm thinking of changing my oil at the rental house to track oil and back again to street oil when the DE is done. If I UPS my oil to a jiffy lube do you think they will change it for me? Why not right?

Space is limited for traveling to a track weekend,

Space can't be that limited; and you can buy the nonrace oil replacement out there. You need an oil catch pan and a wrench.

Space will depend on someone trailering a car. Not sure if someone is doing that or not. FSI has me using DT40 for the street and XP5 for the track. Needless to say I go thru the oil in the Summer  Maybe I take the track oil with me and have the street oil shipped to a oil lube place. And then there is the track tire conundrum...and btw Indy is August and this instructor is paying $150 to drive for 3 days. You need to make it!

I think it's the same weekend as Chin at Summit Point which is my favorite club at my home track so.... But definitely on the list.

Forgot about the unicorn oil for your car. I still find it hard to believe there isn't room for 20 qts of oil. Or have all the oil shipped to the house or a ups store nearby. Not sure I'd let jiffy lube touch my lawnmower much less my track car. I have VIR in 5 weeks and can't wait. Come east! Lots of fun stuff this way.

I joined the North Jersey PCA, and so far am enjoying my membership. One of the things I am interested in is their DE program. I am eager to get the car on the track where it belongs, but am concerned about damaging it. According to the PCA, they say these events will be both safe for me and my car. Has anyone done a DE event through the PCA? Should I just go and not worry about it, or do I need to install a new baffle in the crankcase? Gosh, these cars make you nuts.
