Personal opinion, but I think any negativity towards Flat 6, LN, et. al. is just denial: People get a 996 at a great price and then find out that there are more than a few issues that can happen, and they just don't want to come to grips with reality. They'd rather bad-mouth the people that have done the research and developed real solutions rather than admit that they maybe should have avoided the 996 but it was just too good to pass up. ;)

I am likely not the only one here that has never seen an Austrian fire truck. VERY curious. 8-)

You say that, but as much as I hear you talk about the 912E, I wouldn't be surprised if you keep it in the family. ;) Seems like I remember seeing it in the "Bug Me" video series or was that just the 914? Seems like I remember seeing it in the background. Those videos date back to the 90s. 912E is a long time friend!
Agreed. 912E was a low production car, I think. I've also heard a rumor there is a "different" engine in that specific car. :?

Yep! You nailed it. I tell my car buddies that if they ever consider any of the Porsche of the M96/M97 era to "manage your expectations" and don't expect the reliability of a Corolla. ;) These are high performance cars with many areas that will need to be addressed and it won't be cheap. The so called "great deals" can easily turn into nightmares. :o

How many times have you read about some poor sucker buying a 996 for $10 - $15K only to find out after the sell that it has all sorts of serious problems that end of costing the owner as much as they paid for the car to begin with?

I discovered the 996 while searching for a 76 912 three years ago. That's when the light went on in my head as the 912's started climbing right before my eyes and the 996 was still on a downward slide...

Yeah they are. I didn't clean the outer edges on purpose. Consider the fact that I had to use the flash on my phone to get any detail. Otherwise just darkness! The driver side is more goopy, of course we know why...

B3: I am disappointed! I figured you would photobomb Jake at least once. He must have locked you in a closet! Seriously that looks almost exactly like my cylinders as seen through the boroscope!
