Having removed and reinstalled the instrument cluster at least a dozen times, I don't enjoy the thought of tackling the entire dash. However, full leather would be a fantastic reward for that work...

Keep us posted!

Understeer: You will hit the wall with the front end.
Oversteer: You will hit the wall with the rear end.
Horsepower: How hard you will hit the wall.
Torque: How far you will move the wall.

Gone hunting with Alec Baldwin and Dick Cheney. Back soon.

I thought I would post up the finished dash, taking out all my labour the fix cost me $200 Aus Dollars, which was a bargain but really not a complicated job for the upholsterer.

Before photo isn't great but you can see the wrinkles.
Very happy with the result and as I said when I get a clear head will do a step by step.
My next project will be Paddle shift upgrades.

Oh and yes I do try to stay on the right side of the road in the right country.

I always take crap for the opinion, but the 996 cabin with upgraded materials is one of the best "drivers" there is. Everything you need, nothing you don't.

OP, that dash is sweet.

Great work. Patience of a saint.

Someone at a club meeting commented how my 996 had the full leather interior. I finally looked closer and there is indeed stitching on the dash and headliner. The interior overall is in such good shape that I have not really had to touch it.

Time to start taking better care of ALL of it - not just the seats!!!

Yeah I kept seeing people on Rennlist (dammit) complain about how the 996 had a crappy interior and never understood their beef. True it is no Jag interior, but it's far from terrible. Then around 2015 I finally saw my first 996 without the full leather treatment  :o

Sadly I noticed the other day that where the bubble has been has progressed to the leather having pulled away from the dash up by the window

Do you use one of those interior fold out shade for when parked? If not wonder if that would slow the damage?
