My 2002 996 "renovation" thread

This is the second day of ownership. Car drives strong and shift smoothly. When we inspected the car, we concentrated on the motor and tranny instead of the cosmetics and electro gizmos. Fortunately, the motor is running strong with none of the tell-tale M96 signs of a rolling nightmare.
The car only has 45K miles on it, but most of the problems that I see are from sloppy upgrades -
1. faux carbon fiber stickers - those will be removed and dash pieces repainted to graphite grey. I'm not sure about the console, I may want to paint it to match the exterior black paint.
2. custom installed radio - there was a sub woofer behind the back seat that wasn't included with the deal. (see pictures) Seller did not have the original rear carpet and rear seat parts. Ugh! Maybe you can help me find the correct replacement parts. The rear seats WON'T current lock without the rear hardware. Help! I don't even think the radio work properly. I'm not excited about pulling it out because more than likely, the custom radio people probably cut the OEM wiring. Eeeeeek! Apparently, the swapped out the door speakers but left something loose inside because it rattles going down the road.
3. Rear hood/frunk locks sensor is not working even though both are shut properly. The car still thinks they're open and display a MIL warning on the gauge cluster. Any ideas guys?
4. The brakes/rotors are shot and the giving a "wear pad" warning. No problem there but it will have to wait until $$ comes in.
5. Wheels are cool, but not my style. It looks like the rear have spacers or incorrect offset. I won't know until I remove them. Stay tuned.
Overall, I'm overly happy with the car. The only concern I have about the motor is that the previous owner has the coolant flushed and they put the "green stuff" in it. It was clear, but I couldn't believe it. However, I've seen this a few times on the used 996. Should I be concerned? Just drive or have someone flush it immediately?
Thanks for all your help!!!
