Y’all see that Hoovie blew up his LS motor on the track? Talk about repeating history! Ugh, this guy is so failure prone that I think he really enjoys it.
LS Engines are notorious for oil starvation under high G cornering, the only two ways around it are to install a baffled oil pan or overfill the crank case by 1 and 1/2 to 2 quarts of oil. You'd think that GM would've thought that not every person who buys an F-Boat wants to go drag racing......some of us actually enjoy.........dare I say it...........Rounding a corner.... :o

I dunno about LS engines, but take a look at a dirt track car oil pan(one that doesn't run a dry sump). The part of the pan that extends out to the right is there for a reason. Heck we even had a flexible fuel pickup that would flop around in the tail tank to get to the fuel that moved to the right during cornering.

Yea, one of the beauties of the Flat 6 engine is it's super low center of gravity which is a big contributing factor for creating the 911 driving experience. I just don't think you get the same thing feel out of a V8 in a 911.

Yea, you'll get no argument from me on that......

Exactly, it's good common sense. If they would've done the sump with just a single box style baffle and plastic one way doors on the sides to go around the pick up on the wet sump versions of the LS engines you'd never see problems with oil starvation under cornering forces.....Kind of surprised that GM Engineers didn't think about that knowing that the base Corvette, SS Camaro, and Trans-Am, would all eventually see track duty...Makes no sense at all, but meh, what ever....back when I was racing the team I ran for as a driver lost 3 engines in one season over this on 2 different F-bodies. Did an oil change on my car before a race, The team owner came behind me not realizing I had already filled the engine with oil, put 2 quarts in it before he checked it, found out he overfilled it, but we didn't have time to remedy the issue before the race so we said screw it and ran it anyway. I paid close attention to the oil pressure gauge and realized it never dropped off during the race. when he ran his car after my group, and he said he noticed his oil pressure dropped off on the high speed sweeper. Added 2 quarts to his car and he ran the car the following day and noticed no more pressure drop off. After that all the F-boats got over filled by 2 quarts and we never lost another engine after that due to oil starvation under sustained cornering......

That's soon to be a "ragged out piece of track garbage" if there ever was one. I feel sorry for the future owners of that car :(

At the rate of destruction he leaves in his wake, Hoovie will make all surviving cars more collectible.
