Widowmaker Project (Building a Faux GT2)

In 2015 I picked up a 02 996 Turbo with the eventual plans of building it into a GT2 Clone. With the GT2 prices being out of my reach at the time and keep climbing, I figured it would be a fun project to build my personalized GT2 Clone from a 996 Turbo.

This past weekend as first part of setting the baseline prior to pulling the AWD and converting to RWD along with some other host of upgrades, I tossed the car onto the scales to get a weight baseline with me in the car and a full tank of gas.

Cool project!
Interesting that the left front and left rear are heavier even though you are sitting in the driver's seat (on the left side of the car).

Are you planning on replacing the roof with a non-sunroof version?

That is the eventual plan at some point. First round if rear spoiler setup, front bumper and a carbon hood which I picked up this past weekend. Having picked up many VW/Audi hoods in the past in the good old Saab I decided to take it instead of the gas sipping pickup to just outside NYC.

The hood ended up not fitting in the car what soever so had to improvise with some blankets and some ratchet straps to get it home. Kept off the free way on the way back to not have to worry about speed and it lifting. Along the way stopped at a couple breweries in CT and south western Mass. If anyone is in the North west CT area I highly suggest Kent Falls Brewing. Girlfriend was a good sport considering the improvised straps running all inside the car and meeting another "fellow off the internet in a parking lot" to exchange parts.

More updates coming soon. First have to get the track Audi ready for some action and finish up installing the wiring into the Corrado this month.
