Sourcing Interior, how hard?

Post by pcasanova » Wed Oct 03, 2018 4:04 pm

Looking at 996T with some issues, particular the interior. Previous owner pieced together a carbon fiber interior. It's stick with a triptonic steering wheel. Other components like the ac vents and e-brake carbon fiber pieces are cracked.

How hard is it to source decent replacement Carbon Fiber Interior parts? Are these parts very expensive?

Factory parts will be $$$$ and they are destined to end up looking the same. After market can be cheaper, but I have no info on finish or longevity.

Factory leather parts are $$$$ too, but I can attest to them holding up well with little care and lots of abuse. Ours hasbeen living outside near DC for 18 years and except for a bubble on the top of the dash the leather still looks good. No sun protection and only a few leather treatments (and none for a long time).

Painted parts (either factory or getting the cheap plastic parts and refinishing them yourself) can look good too.

As far as your wheel, unless less you wanted to install the far superior 4-spoke, then your airbag should transfer over.

Yeah, love factory, but new is too much for me.

Believe there are some porsche dismantlers that could be a source.

JIC for others, did find https://www.macarbon.com/porsche-2999/9 ... rior-parts that might be an option.

There was a CF guy in Germany, cannot remember his company. Seems like they have lots of stuff, somewhat reasonable in cost.
