In-line pix feature needs to be fixed

Post by Cuda911 » Fri Dec 28, 2018 1:46 pm

I started a 991 thread. It was going to have text and photos in a chronological order. But, even if you click "insert inline," the photos are randomly sprinkled everywhere, sometimes multiple copies of them.

There is absolutely no way to know where they will show up in the post. Schnelly, can you look into that?
Thanks!

Aye. There is at least one KNOWN issue that I believe I can fix, but the issue of which you speak (the inline images getting hosed) does seem to be worse with Chrome (which of course is my browser of choice). What kind of device are you posting from (mobile vs. PC)?

Understeer: You will hit the wall with the front end.
Oversteer: You will hit the wall with the rear end.
Horsepower: How hard you will hit the wall.
Torque: How far you will move the wall.

Chrome on my pc, android from my phone. On RL I can see the coding in line with the text, so can easily edit out unwanted pix. Can't do that here.

I need to update the phpBB install; we'll see if any of the image handling sucks less!

Damn, this package is feature-rich! :D

Oh by the way, Mike, are you placing your cursor in your message where you want a pic to appear just prior to hitting the "Place Inline" button for that pic? I always do that and don't seem to have problems putting the pics right where I want them. For example, I am going to stop typing at the end of this sentence (even though I have already typed the below paragraph), and leave the cursor at the end of this sentence, and then will upload a pic and hit "Place Inline" and the pic should be immediately after this incredibly long, run-on sentence.

Now, if you go back and edit a post later, I've noticed that some pics disappear from the post with a message in their place that says something along the lines of "Attachment 3 No Longer Available". This occurs most often when you try to insert more than 2 pics in one post. So, if you put up a post with 4 or 5 pics and they are located right where you want them, try not to go back and do any edits to that post for fear of screwing up the pics.

So basically the performance characteristics of the site are somewhat analogous to our beloved 996's - stable, but unpredictable, reliable yet unreliable, runs great...until they don't. :)

I find the desktop version a lot easier to use than the mobile version....or maybe it's just me and this iPhone. :)

There are some additional mobile themes that I need to investigate - some of them may handle images a little less catastrophically than the canned themes and good ol' Soft Blue.

Understeer: You will hit the wall with the front end.
Oversteer: You will hit the wall with the rear end.
Horsepower: How hard you will hit the wall.
Torque: How far you will move the wall.
