Early signs of bore scoring are "sooty" tail pipes.
Lets just keep this photos only for the "Miester's" viewing pleasure.
Sound recordings (device placed on the ground under Bank 1 or 2) if you think you're hearing things.
02 996 with factory replacement from an 05 w/50ish miles. Original injectors have 125K miles on them.
My pipes are from the 125K motor.

Wow, your motor mounts definitely need replacing...never seen a gap like that! They must be completely blown.

87k mile 3.8 rebuild with 24k miles after rebuild for IMS fail. New injectors and DT40 for last 5k miles. Uses 1l per 800 miles.

B3 Freak, and Hatchetf15 both concern me. Hatchet has two pipes that are more sooty than I like to see. Your consumption also concerns me.
I will be checking B3s tomorrow.
Hatchetf15,
Clean these pipes very well on both sides and take pics of them when cleaned. Then drive until you see a marked difference in their color, then re- shoot and upload the pics.
One of you guys need to start a thread like this on RL too, so we can really get a gauge on how many cars may have this and have not been caught. If I start it, i'll be a fear Monger again. We may be able to save some engines by doing this!

Bill,
I would add context for your OP. If someone new joins and just sees random tail pipe pics, he might think we're all just indulging Renn Miester's sooty pipe fetish...lol
