Really leaning toward the QuickJack. Being realistic, changing wheels and doing minor maintenance is probably all I would ever do. No engine / trans drops for me. Logically the QJ is probably all I would ever really need.

Yeah, that's my take. As much as that Danmar 6 makes me insanely jealous, I am not doing the clutch any time soon. I can't even get it together enough to change the motor mounts.

The track car lives on jackstands and the quickjack is making me insanely jealous. Looks awesome.

How tall is your garage? I would prefer the Danmar and will likely get one after we move this summer. However, the Quickjack has been a good solution for the last few years.
Totally forgot about this thread. I'll measure when I get home this afternoon.

I wanted to add: Get yourself a short stool with wheels and it'll probably more comfortable than standing under a car. I just push myself around and store the tools I'm using on the platform under the seat.

FRUNKenstein wrote: Mon Jan 28, 2019 11:41 am A Quick Jack or a 2 post lift would definitely be better for wrenching than the two 4-posts that I have in my garage. But, they work OK for doing maintenance and work great for storage. I would love to have some sort of easily-portable 2 post lift that I could swing out of the way when not using it. I find it so much easier to work on a car when you can stand underneath it. But, even a Quick Jack would be handy sometimes, like when doing brake work - the 4 posters are basically worthless for that.
Get a rolling bridge for one of your 4 posts!

Follow up: Floor to bottom of ceiling joist is 102" - there is a good amount of clearance between the roof and rafter at the max height. The important thing is that you get a side mount garage door opener as it opens up your overhead space. I got the liftmaster 8500 and love it, especially with the internet gateway. It's completely silent and the gatewall allows me to integrate the system into my smart home stuff via Apple shortcuts.

We are buying a house with a two car garage, but has 12’ 9” ceilings. The plan is to highlift the garage door, install a LiftMaster 8500W, and put in two four post lifts.

Will have the 996 and 924 on top with a Land Cruiser and Tacoma underneath or one of the other cars currently in storage.

I just found the Quickjack BL-5000SLX [5000 lb] on the Home Depot web site for my local store at $1099 w/ free shipping. That's at least $300 off normal price...average. I wonder if they make a slightly cheaper [lesser quality] model of QJ to sell via the big box stores?
