Re: Good Week @ 996Outpost.com
Ok...this is going to be a ricer post so beware.
As I'm avoiding driving my 996 due to not wanting it to explode before I ship it south in June I have been driving the Type R when weather allows. Today coming back from an errand on a four lane hi-way I decided to run it up a little from a stoplight. Keep in mind it has less than 100 miles and break-in is 600 miles before the book says you can launch it and floor it so I did neither of those, but HOLY SH!TBALLS!! This thing is quick! I driven quick and fast cars all my life, but this thing is QUICK...shockingly Quick. (Note to self: this acceleration was in "Comfort mode" not "Sport" nor "R+" I realized this as I was typing and can now confirm I am truly doomed!) This is not a good sign for me cause when it is broken in I could be in trouble. At least if I get pulled over I can throw the "old" card. "Gee, Offisher(spoken like my false teeth are not glued in well enough) I didn't know how fast I was going. I thought I was stomping on the brake. Must have been the wrong pedal. I am confused"
Think that will work?

Type R, first thing I thought of was the Integra, and I wouldn't call that fast. I guess you mean the new Civic? Those are impressive.

Don't take the rice abuse, man...real gearheads don't discriminate.
This was the blown Tiburon V6 just before I sold it to the kid who blew it up. It was a beautiful, ridiculously expensive engine bay for a $20K Korean car with a crappy motor, but still a fun project. I quit because I saw that pumping more power into a platform that didn't want it was a recipe for bankruptcy. It's funny that some people refuse to learn that lesson...they just move from one "wrong" car to the next.

Understeer: You will hit the wall with the front end.
Oversteer: You will hit the wall with the rear end.
Horsepower: How hard you will hit the wall.
Torque: How far you will move the wall.
Gone hunting with Alec Baldwin and Dick Cheney. Back soon.
