Re: Oil Analysis and other paranoid behaviours
I find this oil post just as I was forgetting to be overly paranoid about such things. We took the car for ice cream yesterday afternoon and I don’t think I thought about my engine giving up the ghost more than 3 times!

In hindsight, I’d go back & delete my initial post if possible. For the common good.

A nice moderator could probably help you with that, but we don't have any of those around here so it's best to just take pride in your workEinsteiger wrote: ↑Sat Jun 01, 2019 5:44 am In hindsight, I’d go back & delete my initial post if possible. For the common good.

Isn't a "nice moderator" kinda like a Unicorn?gnat wrote: ↑Sat Jun 01, 2019 7:09 amA nice moderator could probably help you with that, but we don't have any of those around here so it's best to just take pride in your workEinsteiger wrote: ↑Sat Jun 01, 2019 5:44 am In hindsight, I’d go back & delete my initial post if possible. Which is why it is so hard to find proper fluids for the 996.

After producing these bore scoring videos and taking a class on UOA, I think it would be beneficial for the health of your engine to get the bores scoped asap. And I'm not to try to start a flame war, but switch the oil. In the meantime, get off of OW40 M1. Go with DT40 as you planned or Motul 5W40. You should also plan to get the fuel injectors swapped out.
Cheers brotha!

Switched to DT-40 March 30. I’ve been driving as described in the latest vid since I got the car in Nov 2017.

You gotta remember that oil threads have a long and painful history in the Porsche world. We're mostly just having fun cause we know these threads can turn into ugly religious crusades.Einsteiger wrote: ↑Sat Jun 01, 2019 11:18 am Switched to DT-40 March 30.
