After spending about 2 weeks in "reception" he finally went to his basic training company (BCT). He said reception is like being in limbo, a mix of prison and Lord of the Flies. Aparently it is the worst part of basic training. They really have no purpose other than to hurry up and wait. Also virtually no privledges. Just a lot of running and pushups. BCT is a whole lot better, they do shit and are learning things. He is finishing his second week of BCT and has had somne fun things like the gas chamber. He is the 2nd from the left. Looks like he is having a bunch of fun! There is another 7 weeks of BCT and then he officially becomes a solider, then 5 more weeks and he graduates infantry, the 3 week of Airborne jump school. That puts him just before the holidays and hopefully he can come home for 2-3 weeks!!!. Then back to Benning for 4 months of trainingb3freak wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2019 9:07 amThank you, for your support of our country by raising a son that wants to serve in the military. Definitely keep us updated with his progress as he moves up the ranks. Life does go by too quick, doesn't it? My daughter is a senior this year and it seems just like yesterday I was driving her home as a newborn.JayG wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2019 7:53 am Yesterday was a day for me to remember. A day of happyness, sadness and one of pride.
My son Chad left for the begininng of his ARMY career. He will arrive at Ft Benning later today. It will be his home for at least the next 34 weeks as he trains for Airborne Special Forces (18x MOS).
I'm sure going to miss that little fucker. I am proud as hell for what he has chosen to do with his life and proud of the man he has become.

Damn, I guess I should have bought that ‘01 996tt last week at the auction for $36,100. Its twin just sold on BaT for $55k.FRUNKenstein wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2019 8:58 amWell, I can sleep inside the house tonight. It was a "No Sale" at $36,100. Apparently it was the owner of a car dealership's personal car. They started the bidding at $39,000, but had to drop down to $36,000 to get a bid, then only one more at $36,100. Tough to get more than that with the spoiler stuck in the up position, missing a center cap and quite a few imperfections in the interior.FRUNKenstein wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2019 8:06 am
Yeah, as much as I love tan interior, it just doesn't wear well. That seat could be dyed for a couple of hundred bucks, though. There are a few other spots like that on the interior though.
I am going to watch it online. If for some reason it sells for under $30k, I'll bid on it and risk the wrath of the wife.

Lots of people sold their 996TT and GT cars thinking it was of the same problematic engine family as the M96 Carrera only to realize that the Mezger based cars were a much better design.FRUNKenstein wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2019 7:37 pmDamn, I guess I should have bought that ‘01 996tt last week at the auction for $36,100.
