Re: Painted the console and gear shift
Spent yesterday after work removing all the faux carbon stickers and repainting the console, gear shift, and other bits. The next thing to do is fine another lower console, carpet, and grey vinyl side trim pieces.

Re: flat black paint
Funny you should ask. I've tried all types of standard flat black paints from Home Depot, Advance Auto, Walmart, etc. I've even ordered expensive versions from auto paint companies, but believe it or not, the best I've found is from a small store in our area called "Freds". They have their own branded Flat Black paint. I don't know who manufacturers the stuff, but it's perfect. When it dries, it leaves a consistent, smooth color with no anomalies (e.g. glossy areas) or surface imperfections. It almost looks like the rubberized "protein paint" the factory uses.
I know a lot of people prefer to paint the console the color and gloss of the exterior paints, but I like to match the gauges and other flat black pieces in the car. Just my opinion. And, flat black is less prone to mistakes too.

^ That's cool! Did you paint with a rattle-can or do you use a compressor and paint gun?
I just got a new air compressor for my birthday, all I'm missing is the "101 Things to Ruin with Your Air Compressor" book. I'm pretty eager to learn how to paint...

Re: rattle me up!
^^^ I rattled canned it. Brotha, it's all in the technique. ha!
Personally, I can't say I always get this nice of job accomplished. Oh, and I wouldn't dare touch painting a car's exterior. I'd rather let the pros handle that kind of job. Although most folks think rednecks commonly use rattle cans to repaint their trucks in the south. But the fact is... THEY'RE RIGHT!!! hahahahaha

Re: center console installed
Here's the console reassembled and installed. Next step is to get the low center console piece installed.

original interior
I'm tossing around the idear of a retro steering wheel, but think it's a little aggressive. But then again, I'm an abrasive pr!ck, so why not!? Either way, I'd like a respray and KWv1s to come first. Then I will have officially doubled the price of the car with updates... eek.

Wow... look at all that gray!!! Wooooooooooosh.
As far as the steering wheel... do want ya want my friend... it's your car. Ain't gonna hurt my feelings. I personally like the OEM steering wheel, but understand why a lot of people (especially the guys that track) want to change them out.
