Sh*t did get pretty wild back then. It was astonishing to walk into as a newb.
Yet unlike so many, you managed to comprehend the obvious and then join in the fun.

There was nothing better than the clueless person coming into the GW thread looking for serious responses.

Ooooh! I forgot about the guy that wanted me to die during my (at the time) upcoming heart surgery

Thanks to all for the history of the other list. Being a newbie myself I was not aware of all of the previous drama...
My normal rule on internet discussion groups is to try to not be a dumbass. Many others do not have that rule.

I think we are all generally ok with someone being a dumbass as we all fit that bill from time to time. It's those that refuse to move beyond that stage that make our days merry

Gave this to the wife today. By the time it has a sibling and the important bit it will cost more than the 996 is worth

I have the exact numbers somewhere, but that silly little thread buried in the 996 forum lasted for about 3 years. During that time, it had about 18,000 posts by nearly 400 different posters and 750,000 (that's three-quarters of a million) views. It had regular visitors from all of the different forums checking in on it for their daily chuckle.

Nah, we don't want that kind of thread on our website, let's shitcan it.

You guys forgot the guy who was a giant DB to the Cayman owner at the car show or cars and coffee or whatever. I think that thread still exists. Some fine work in that one.

I forgot that one, but you are right it is a classic. Poor OP didn't know whether to delete all his posts or try to defend his defenseless actions, but neither tactic worked very well of him.
