Stuck O2 Sensor Ideas
I am replacing O2 sensors in my TL, both are original and 17 y/o and 250k miles. I got CEL for front one, so decided to do both together.
Front went very easy and messing with cable routing took the long time. Rear, is on the cat converter, and is putting up a fight.
I soaked it in penetrating fluid and I have both type of O2 adapters. Sensor is awkwardly placed, so it is pretty hard to get leverage on it when car is on jacks. Laying under the car with 110 degrees in the garage while pulling on breaker bar is no fun.
Easiest solution is to... Let it be, as CEL got fixed with front sensor.

On a car with 250k miles? Yeah, you fix stuff that’s broke. You don’t fix stuff that isn’t broke. You hope someone plows into you.

After more twisting and readjusting the sockets I finally broke it loose. Tomorrow, taking the connector that is somehow attached to the body of the car via some metal dongle.

After eating and relaxing some, went back at it. 10 minutes past midnight and it was done.

It's amazing what a step back and a little break can do, huh? Good stuff.Kalashnikov wrote: ↑Sun Jul 19, 2020 12:16 am After eating and relaxing some, went back at it. 10 minutes past midnight and it was done.

Sorry I didn't see this sooner. The split sockets for pulling O2 sensors have never worked worth crap for me. I use a telescoping basin wrench on oxygen sensors - works like a charm every time. The harder you crank on it, the better the jaws bite. Absolutely kicks ass over every other tool I've tried for stuck oxygen sensors...no PB Blaster required.
Understeer: You will hit the wall with the front end.
Oversteer: You will hit the wall with the rear end.
Horsepower: How hard you will hit the wall.
Torque: How far you will move the wall.
Gone hunting with Alec Baldwin and Dick Cheney. Back soon.
