Wow. That really sucks. The buyer paid all the money and then added $10k. I followed that auction and it looked like a nice car. And Mr Deezy seemed like an OK guy too. Now the car blew up and Mr Deezy turns out to be an asshole. Interesting. Not In a good way. That car would probably be amazing with one of Jake’s engines.

I'm on 6SpeedOnline... Mr. Deezy is banned on that site.Battery Guy wrote: ↑Mon Aug 03, 2020 5:16 pm Wow. That really sucks. The buyer paid all the money and then added $10k. It will be interesting to see what Raby finds when the engine is opened up.

I take it new owner didn't drive the car in circles for half hour before setting off from Cali? You can't say that he wasn't warned.

I'm just hoping Raby does a Zoom interview with the new owner. I can't say publicly all I've learned in the last 24 hours, but it's NOT good at all.Kalashnikov wrote: ↑Mon Aug 03, 2020 9:26 pm I take it new owner didn't drive the car in circles for half hour before setting off from Cali? As it stands, the seller did not agree to assist or take the car back. He had a few chosen words for the new owner before hanging up.

It's unclear to me exactly how bad this car is. Raby mentions VVT, cylinders not firing, and smoke. None of those mean brand new engine automatically, do they?

I get that used cars are buyer-beware and no warranty, but after getting such a premium at least some sympathy would be nice.

Sympathy seems to be in short supply thee days.
So if you meet me
Have some courtesy
Have some sympathy, and some taste
Use all your well-learned politesse
Or I'll lay your soul to waste, mm yeah

The car is scheduled for a June 2021 reconstruction. The seller did mention in the auction videos that the car experienced a broken chain tensioner paddle on the main drive chain which is connected to the IMS shaft. The shop in California that did the repair didn't pin the shaft. When the tension paddle breaks in operation, the IMS shaft experiences severe trauma.OceanBlue2000 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 04, 2020 8:01 am It's unclear to me exactly how bad this car is. In the upcoming, Focus On: IMS Bearing Failure, Jake explains this problem because the 29,000 one-owner C2 broken the same tensioner paddle.
I'm editing it right now. Should be ready for viewing this week on YouTube.
