I remember as a kid talking to a dude who was a paratrooper in WW2. He said "Never ever leave a plane that is flying ok." I thought he was being funny. He was not...That has stuck with me my whole life
Never gonna make you cry...

Wife just dug up a photo of me and the 2000 Cab. Gee...maybe I should have kept it.
Maybe I should have kept them all.

Sure the Mexico blue 993 reached all the way to Las Vegas to hurt me. But life's too short for regrets, amirite? Hope you're enjoying the new girl. After all that we need a pic of you and the silver fox.

That 993 was special...and technically it was Riviera Blue. The guy who bought it after me still has it, but has it parked in his garage. I'd seriously consider paying a 993 price to get that one back. But because of the car's history (and the rarity of the color) I don't think he'll sell, at least at a reasonable price. 24 of that color were imported to the US in 1995...7 Cabs and the rest coupes. The first owner of that car was Porsche of North America. After about 10 months duty with their Press department (two issues of Road &Track) it was auctioned off to their dealers. Downtown LA Porsche got it and no one made an offer for months...just too blue. I got it and was in heaven. And then I let it slip away. So technically a three owner car...it has between 90k and 100k miles on it now. I got it with the original Carrera Cup 16" wheels and should have stayed with those, for the same reason I'm staying with the 17s on my C4.

Apologies! I have the bumpkin habit of calling every bright Porsche blue "Mexico" and I'm pedantic about the greens.best-selling author, occasional Gitmo AirBNB guest, and internationally-renowned automotive fashion consultant John Ireland wrote: ↑Wed Aug 26, 2020 10:47 pm That 993 was special...and technically it was Riviera Blue.

Yeah, but sooner or later any car lover will have that one car that you regret letting go of. You'll always think about it from time to time and consider looking into getting it back.b3freak wrote: ↑Thu Aug 27, 2020 6:29 amLife's too short to live in the past. For me it was my 98 Jag XK8. It was a royal pain in my ass (I got a bad one as Ford really had fixed Jag's overall quality by then), but it was the car that taught me that cars could be more than just about getting from A to B.

I had a 1965 Mustang that I blew the engine on and sold as a roller back in college. I don't have the VIN, but I think I can get it from the DMV if I think its still rolling. The one thing that makes me think its still registered is there was no rust on it, not even on the floorboards. That's rare.gnat wrote: ↑Thu Aug 27, 2020 7:54 amYeah, but sooner or later any car lover will have that one car that you regret letting go of. It's strange how we place so much importance on color. But, it's the first and the last thing you see every time you interact with the car.Dr_Strangelove (whew!) wrote: ↑Wed Aug 26, 2020 8:05 pm Sure the Mexico blue 993 reached all the way to Las Vegas to hurt me. And Doc, you can call my 914 Mexico Blue all day long and I won't mind.
