That punch line is fantastically Russian.
Understeer: You will hit the wall with the front end.
Oversteer: You will hit the wall with the rear end.
Horsepower: How hard you will hit the wall.
Torque: How far you will move the wall.

New co-worker is a driving instructor. Looks like I may finally stop procrastinating and finally attend my first DE event. (He's been egging me to go in a few weekends at AAA Speedway)
Some extra oil, tire inflator, tire pressure gauge, torque wrench/wheel socket, masking tape, and water/snacks. Anything else I really need to consider for a beginner experience? I don't plan on pushing the car, just focus on learning the track.

Remove floor mats and anything loose and just leave them at home.sweet victory wrote: ↑Fri Sep 25, 2020 7:33 am New co-worker is a driving instructor. Looks like I may finally stop procrastinating and finally attend my first DE event. (He's been egging me to go in a few weekends at AAA Speedway)

I did nothing to our 996. Just got the tech inspection from my Indy and then drove it to the track (had recently done the oil, tires and brakes).
I used painter's tape on my doors for my number (996 of course).
Rented a helmet from a local race shop.
Took a 64oz growler full of tea and 3 28oz bottles of water. Summit Point has a little snack shop for food and other drinks.
Sunscreen.
Don't worry about "not gonna drive it hard" cause you can't You'll find it has soooo much more to give than you'll be able to do. Just try to relax and listen to your instructor and the car, they'll teach you a lot.
The biggest challenge I had was letting go of street braking. You don't fade in to gently slow down heading for a corner, you wait and then put that petal to the floor hard.
If the event allows it, let your instructor drive you for a couple of laps to see what it's supposed to be like.
Just relax and have fun.

Mrs. S hooked me up with a gas pressure washer for my birthday. This is my first non-electric pressure/power washer...it whups my Ryobi electric pressure washer hands-down.

Just don't get the bright idea to swat flies on your on your leg with it. I once worked with a guy that was so happy about his over-powered-for-what-he-needed washer and while he was washing his deck one of those big old 2" horse flies landed on his leg. He thought it would smart to nail it with the pressure washer. Raw and uncovered human muscle is not a pretty sight to behold and yes of course beer was involved.

Heh. I learned a similar lesson with an airless paint gun back when I was a kid. I still have a paint tattoo on one hand...

I thought it was poor taste to get your spouse a cleaning tool as a gift? My wife warned me to never get her a mop, vacuum cleaner, or iron as a gift. hahaha Personally, I love getting tools or anything that will make my life easier. Can I get a witness?!
