Re: What did you do to/with your 996 today?
So, last Wednesday night (the night before Thanksgiving) at 11:13 pm, I ordered a set of these for the 914 for $560 plus shipping:
And remember how in the post above I said sometimes I'm not very smart? Well, 47 minutes later, they went on a Black Friday sale for $84 less. Duh.
However, looking on their website (www.914rubber.com), I see that they have pity on people like me and offer store credit for anything that goes on sale within 14 days of buying it. I left them a message this morning asking for that store credit, so let's see if they follow through.
I'm sure I'll find $84 worth of stuff I don't need elsewhere on their website (there is a sweet 914 flag in blue that matches my car that I can envision throwing in a drawer and never using).

You can't drop an intro like that and then leave us hanging, man.
Well, I guess you CAN - but I think it violates The Rule.

That pattern is centered on the seat bottom but not the back. This cannot be allowed to stand.

It involved me on a motorcycle and an extension ladder coming off the roof of the contractor’s van directly in front of me. It effectively ended my motorcycle riding days.

Yeah, I remember that day - it was awesome. I still have the dashcam footage...here's a still.

Re: What did you do to/with your 996 today?
I ordered about $1000 worth of bits and pieces to replace every O-ring, crush washer, and coolant hose in the engine bay. I abhor leaky engines and this one is a leaker for sure. I'm hoping that the oil cooler ($$$$) is not the source of the big oil leak. Of course this requires an engine out service - which will let me address the bank 2 intake cam that either has a flaky adjuster sprocket or has drifted a bit and keeps throwing P1325 codes.
Hopefully the 166k mile turbos are OK, though I am a little worried about all the oil in the driver's side intercooler.

Re: What did you do to/with your 996 today?
Car is running great but time to do a little maintenance.
1.The windshield washers sudden stopped squirting liquid. That tank is full, so its just become disconnected. (need to pop off fender liner to find where the leak is)
2. A nozzle on the left headlight washer came off. (will take care of while doing #1)
3. The little rubber bushing that guides the fuel door lock has gotten lost. (takes 5 seconds to pop in a new one)
4. The battery needs replacing. One that came in car is too small and showing signs of weakening.
5. A piece of plastic undertray is broken (as long as I've had the car) and it is time to replace it. (easier to do if the car is on a lift)
6. Periodically, under hard acceleration, the ABS and PSM lights come on. Goes out after turning the ignition on and off. (needs diagnosis)
Don't really have a place to work on the car myself, but I've sourced and ordered most of the parts.
I'll do the fuel door bushing, the rest I'm letting a shop diagnose and do.

Shout out to 914rubber.com - they refunded the entire Black Friday Discount back to my credit card. I would have been fine with store credit, but much appreciate the actual refund!

Re: What did you do to/with your 996 today?
Just drove. I found myself getting out south...way out south..on a few rural Kansas roads. The paved kind, not the gravel kind. Just a 50 mile jaunt through the countryside to take advantage of some really great weather.
