Re: What did you do to/with your 996 today?
I had to drive to our Houston-area house (which is "sale pending") to attend to some fussy swimming pool equipment. The service techs we've used successfully in the past didn't have the interest and/or time to sort it out, so yours truly got the job from the Missus. It was a gorgeous day, so I enjoyed over 6 hours of top-down driving in the 996 Cab on my way down and back to Houston. It made the hassle of this PITA/chore much more bearable.
Oh, yeah -- I sorted out the pool so it's working again.

New shoes for the 996 today. Michelin Pilot Sport 4S all seasons ala Tire Rack.
Of course it rained.
Robby with GoMobile was exceptional. Certified Tire Rack installer and he's definitely experienced with all things Porsche. It was nice having the install done here and the cost was reasonable.
I had to take a quick test drive since by now it was pouring. The difference in the car is amazing. I wish now that I would not have procrastinated so long.

Re: What did you do to/with your 996 today?
Today, I looked at the Corvette - with its maintained battery and full gas tank, and though, "nah, I'll take the 911."
So there I was, calling AAA from the 7-11 parking lot. I called at 7:05; by 7:30 I was back on the road to my office with a new battery.
PSA: use your battery maintainer. My battery was only making about 3 amps when the dude tested it...it was wrecked.

Understeer: You will hit the wall with the front end.
Oversteer: You will hit the wall with the rear end.
Horsepower: How hard you will hit the wall.
Torque: How far you will move the wall.
Gone hunting with Alec Baldwin and Dick Cheney. Back soon.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, today I jumped in my daily driver GMC Acadia, and when I twisted the key, the tip broke off. No way to get it out, so had to call a locksmith. Thankfully, he got it out without having to tear apart the entire steering column. He cut and programmed a new key. Total cost was $165. I gave him a $25 tip on top of that, though. I can't imagine the cost had it been the 996 - the new key alone would've been nearly $500.5chn3ll wrote: ↑Fri May 21, 2021 10:24 am Today, I looked at the Corvette - with its maintained battery and full gas tank, and though, "nah, I'll take the 911."

Well that serves you right for picking the crappy American car to drive rather than one of your excellent foreign born beauties!
