January is Pinewood Derby month at the museum where we host about 25 different Cub Scout and Girl Scout Pinewood Derbies for kids from all across the KC metro area. So, we clear out our "Drive In Movie Theatre" room, where we host monthly car club exhibits and dedicate it to the scouts. The problem is that the derbies are pretty much during the weekends, so for museum visitors during the week, our biggest room is void of any cars. Since my cars don't melt when they get wet (unlike apparently most car collectors' vehicles), I told the curator that we can use 3 of my cars during the week so at least have something in there, then just pull them out into the parking during the weekends in January when the derbies are going on to provide room for derby participants & spectators. If they get rained or snowed on, so be it.

So, I brought these 3 crapwagons over last night, then spent about 3 hours detailing them today as they were all filthy. My biggest takeway after viewing the pics was that we need to mop the floor.

Went out yesterday to get my summer wheels from my Indy that won't store them any more (pro tip, 4 P!g wheels require MUCH more space than 4 late 90s 5 series wheels...) and hit up the store. So I don't need to leave the house for awhile and the idiots can have the roads.

Don’t tell Johnny Irish (the spare tire police) - but the orange spare has been replaced with tire-in-a-can…plus a plug kit for bigger holes (heh). The spare is so expired that it cracks when inflated. Like Gnat’s weenus.

I know you know this but if you pick up something through the sidewall the goop and plug kit ain't gonna help. I'm just sayin'.

One of the first things I bought for the Type R was a spare tire kit. Given the 20" wheels and the rubber-band sidewalls it was a disaster waiting to happen.

The Pinewood Derby was my favorite part of The Boy being in cub scouts. We came in second in his whole troop a couple years ago. I am convinced the first place kid (younger than my kid) used a pre-built kit, but since I "helped" my kid so much I kept my mouth shut. The secret weapon was the little tools I bought to bend the axles. We used a friend's woodworking tools to carve it, and the boy wanted it in the shape of my old 928. Brings a tear to my eye.
