I agree but I look at it as kind of a "daily" with PDK and all that.32wildbilly wrote: ↑Wed Aug 31, 2022 1:16 pm Pretty but...Too big! Too fat! Too many bells and whistles!

If I found one in my garage, I wouldn't have it towed away...
Understeer: You will hit the wall with the front end.
Oversteer: You will hit the wall with the rear end.
Horsepower: How hard you will hit the wall.
Torque: How far you will move the wall.

That is until you paid the wheel tax/use tax/luxury tax/gas tax/guzzler tax/license fees/whatever taxes Cali adds/insurance/etc...Besides towing it away would be expensive too.
I'm happy with my old 996 and other than repairs it is pretty cheap to operate/own.

Re: Good Week @ 996Outpost.com
The lack of electronic gizmos on my 996 is a key reason I will always keep it. Far fewer BS failures to have to deal with which, when they occur on my newer cars, require stealership intervention. Thankfully I've only had one BS failure on my 981 GT4 -- a parking brake sensor module -- and it was replaced under warranty.
Additionally, the older cars lack both the nanny aids which interfere with my (crap) driving and Nanny State monitoring devices like GPS connectivity and suchlike. Yet more reasons for me to keep the 996 and drive it "spiritedly"...

Agree I'd never own a 992 in the same vintage as I own my 996. I prefer the analog driving experience as well. I guess I'm just saying if I were "that guy" who could choose what he wants to drive every day to work I'd be giving a hard look at the 992 over even the Lexus LC which I am smitten with as well as a luxury coupe. I'd want to drive something soft and rewarding every day and save the 996 for fun roads.

That's beautiful. Had a friend who had a 996 Speed Yellow GT3. He traded it when a motorcycle accident left him with a left ankle incapable of shifting. We were reminiscing about that car just yesterday. He still regrets selling it many years later.FRUNKenstein wrote: ↑Wed Aug 31, 2022 12:55 pmThe Mk I aerokit 996 is amazing. If I found one now in Guards Red or Speed Yellow that is reasonably priced, I'd buy it as an investment.

Wasn't long ago you could snag a 996 Turbo for 30s. I wish I had bought a one-owner Turbo with less than 50K miles in Atlanta. I think the guy was only wanting $34K. It was manual too. He was retired and babied the car. Ugh! Same thing goes for the GT cars. I once saw a listing for a mint (less than 10K miles) guards red GT2. Look like it just rolled off the factory line. The guy only wanted $89K at the time. Now those cars go for $150K or more. GT3, same thing... you could snag those all day long for 50-60s. Not anymore. Sweet cars and totally understand buyers remorse.Wayne997.2 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 01, 2022 1:26 pmThat's beautiful. Had a friend who had a 996 Speed Yellow GT3. Hhhmmm... so Cali is going to ban the selling of non-EV cars in a couple of years.
Today Cali is telling EV owners not to charge their cars this afternoon.
Anybody see a problem with all this?

Damn, I wish I had your sources! I would have had a GT3 at that price! Lowest I ever saw them was $80k.b3freak wrote: ↑Fri Sep 02, 2022 7:32 amWasn't long ago you could snag a 996 Turbo for 30s.
