Who can school me on polishing/paint correction?

Post by 5chn3ll » Tue Apr 24, 2018 12:16 pm

I picked up this set from Amazon. My paint is in decent shape - lots of swirls, but the clear coat is in good shape.

Teach me, oh Sensei, the ways of the polisher...

680 watts, 8mm throw. Set up for 5.5 inch pads; accepts 3, 5, and 6-inch backing plates.

So, assuming I know nothing (which is generally a safe assumption regardless of the subject matter at hand), how do I get started making my 996 look even awesomer?

Understeer: You will hit the wall with the front end.
Oversteer: You will hit the wall with the rear end.
Horsepower: How hard you will hit the wall.
Torque: How far you will move the wall.

Gone hunting with Alec Baldwin and Dick Cheney. Back soon.

I highly recommend watching Larry Kosilla's videos on youtube. He can teach you everything from wet sanding to paint correction to removing pin stripes. His channel/business is called Ammo NYC. https://www.youtube.com/user/AMMONYCdotcom/videos

Here is a 996 specific video he has.

Reddit.com/r/autodetailing is also a good resource for product reviews and comparisons.

You, sir, are a dork.

Understeer: You will hit the wall with the front end.
Oversteer: You will hit the wall with the rear end.
Horsepower: How hard you will hit the wall.
Torque: How far you will move the wall.
