Well friends. I'm back in the 996 business.
A friend of mine that owns a 1999 996 was in a horrible car accident a couple of years ago and ever since he cannot get in and out of the 996 without serious pain. Sadly, he's decided to hang up his sports car hat and drive trucks that are easier to get in and out of. The accident apparently damaged his back really bad. The SUV flipped several times and landed in the ditch. Apparently, someone crossed the center line and hit them. Thankfully, everyone survived, but it caused him many months of recovery and still deals with severe pain.
Now another consequence is his 996 has been sitting up for 2 years unloved since the accident. The original headlights have yellowed, has several Walmart door dings, rock chips on the front bumper/frunk, and is covered with a nice dirt coating. I bought it for $14,000 given the condition. He plans to get everything checked out and if there is something really wrong, he'd give me my money back. I trust him. I've known this car for many years. It's an ugly duckling, but the engine has been well maintained. I'm not going to win any awards at car shows or pats on the back at cars and coffee events, but I'll enjoy the experience that these cars have to offer.
Once he gets it checked out and washed, I'll post a picture.

You know I would buy a Cayman just because...well AutoX and sell the 996 but it has this engine that I am in love with so...Nope! Wait a damned minute! I could sell the Honda, buy a Cayman, have an LN/F6I big bore Stage 2 dropped in and be pretty much even. Of course that would be the end of the second winter car for just in case...Hhhmmm...
Speaking of Cayman's how is the fit in one of those? Is it comfortable? How is entry/exit access?
