Craigslist, ebay, Amazon and other online finds

Post by FRUNKenstein » Sun Jan 07, 2018 8:24 am

The title says it all - post up your 996 finds here. And don't forget to copy and paste text and photos from the ads in addition to including a link to the ad. If you just post a link, things like craigslist ads commonly go away after a few days, so save the info for future users by including the text and pics.
Don't limit yourself to just cars - you can post parts, accessories or anything you think other 996 guys will find interesting.
Let's see what you got!

OK, not a 996, but I know many of you have expressed an interest in picking up a 928. This is a real interesting one that just popped up here in KC:

https://kansascity.craigslist.org/cto/d ... 17800.html

Why is it worth your time?
1. Transmission - 5 speed manual. Not many of these made
2. Color - Wine Red Metallic. Also rare
3. Price - $7,500. That's bottom feeder money in the current 928 market and normally gets you a basket case. Incredibly, unheard of cheap for a manual transmission car.
4. Location - it is advertised in an upper middle class neighborhood and looks to have been garaged

Let me know if anyone wants an OutpostFax done on it.
117k miles, but odometer not working (common 928 problem)

Ad text:
Nice looking Porsche 928, runs and drives. The rare Porsche "red wine metallic" color stands out and the body is in good shape for its age but not perfect. It has a hard to find 5 speed transmission. Speedo is broken and power steering seems to leak some. Interior shows its age like 928s tend to.

Another non-996, but a very attractive price on a Porsche product that people have expressed an interest in picking up. As many of you may know, I have a dealer's license, so I'm pretty good at knowing market prices. I have two first-gen Cayenne S models, both 2006 year. This one is a 2005, but essentially the same car. The seller is asking $7,300, and I'm fairly certain this one would sell for more than that at the dealer's auction. I'm not real big on the color, but it looks to be in nice shape. It is located about 2 miles from my office, so happy to go do an OutpostFax on it for you if interested. 149k miles, but there is probably still a lot of life left in it. One of mine has 151k miles and I am amazed at how well it drives and has held up. The S model is the sweet spot - more reliable than a 955 Turbo but not a gelding like the base V-6 Cayenne.

Another interesting P-car on the local Craigslist, although not a 996, still a rare one:

https://kansascity.craigslist.org/cto/d ... 59139.html

1990 944S2 cabriolet, guards red over parchment, 5 speed, 89k miles, in concours condition, asking $10,750.
Also close to me if anyone wants me to go check it out.

A wonderful 1990 Porsche 944 S2 Cabriolet that is a three owner meticulously maintained machine. Newer timing belt, brakes, rebuilt Brembo 4 piston calipers, rebuilt front end with newer ball joints, bushings, and sway bars as well as newer shocks on all four wheels. Newer completely rebuilt AC including compressor, new alternator, newer tires, wheels. The older phone dial wheels not seen will be included but need rechroming. The two previous owners kept it in a climate controlled garage. Engine is chipped and measured at 220 HP and runs like a dream with a strong, great 3.0 liter engine. I don’t have the link because I believe it sold already. But a few days ago I found a supposedly working Boxster 2.5 engine for sale for only four hundred American dollars (not to be confused with those commie Eurosexual currencies). I highly considered buying it just for the shits and giggles of getting to tear down an M96 that I wasn’t worried about putting into my car. Also could have made a killer (and heavy) coffee table out of it.
99 C2 Aero that had its fried eggs surgically removed by a previous owner.

Heck, it would be worth more than that as a core, wouldn't it?

Sure would! I suppose that’s why it got snatched up quickly. Damn. Now I really feel like an idiot for not buying it

This one has a "rebuilt title", but for a low miles 996, not totally a bad deal. What do you think?
