Oh, and there's a thread on Rennlist (dammit) with a long chain of comments whether a 996 can be driven for 1, 000 miles, or if it should be towed due to the inherent risk of driving such an insane distance.

I guess I am a newb.. I drove my 172k mile 996 over 800 miles to the PCA Werks Reunion in FL just 2 weeks after buying it. Just me and my 10yr old son.. no issues whatsoever.

In April of this year I took the wife and son to Asheville, NC and the Biltmore in the 996..over 1000 miles round trip.. so take that "Rennlist (dammit)" :D

Hey man, could you post the link. I thought it was a joke too. I didn't see anything related on the main 996 page. Thanks!

So basically, now I can't drive my used 996 for more than a 1000 miles?

What if I drive it to 999.99 miles? Am I good?

Actually, I was thinking about taking my car up to the mountains, but then I realized there would be a lot of uneven pavement and the forecast shows heavy rain. I wouldn't want to get water in my snorkel. :D

What? :? I thought the whole point of buying a 911 was to get your snorkel wet? :?

So what if you bought your 911 after you got married? Extramarital snorkel wetting?
