What did you do to/with your 996 today?
Re: What did you do to/with your 996 today?
Picked it up from the Indy.
Oil change (M1 bitches!!!!)
Brake flush
Unbend backing plate rather than needing new brakes
Adjust frunk bumpers rather than needing to adjust frunk lid (still think it needs that) and clean/replace the latch
Replace right front half shaft due to too much play in the knuckle
Got notice from Suncoast that the combination switch and some other items shipped. So it it will not rain or be unbearably hot/humid for a day I should be able to get that fixed soon too.

Your garage is starting to look like an engine storage facility!
Never gonna make you cry...

I wish it was my garage, it's the corner of my warehouse for our recycling business.32wildbilly wrote: ↑Wed Aug 15, 2018 12:14 pm Your garage is starting to look like an engine storage facility!

Re: What did you do to/with your 996 today?
In the past week I've repaired my driver door lock issue and installed a set of slightly used KONI yellows on her in place of the badly blown Bilsteins.
Amazing difference.
Now I just need to get a new battery cover for the key fob so it will be reliable again and I'm good.
Discovered my front sway bar links are shot, which is good since its cheaper...but I also just purchased some lightly used SPC lower control arms for the front anyway b/c they were at such a low price. Did some research and found that for very little $ they can be new again..all bushings and ball joints swappable/upgradeable.. solid buy, so they will sit until I need them. The ones on the car have obviously been replaced, but I don't have any literature from the PO as to when...
Plans going forward.. will need brakes eventually..maybe just pads soon to get me thru to 200k when I plan to refresh the engine. Very soon I'm going to do a transmission bushing insert, most likely Yellow Function First from my research, possibly Orange.. again, until I drop the engine and trans out then I can swap in a new trans bushing. I think this will solve the clunk I have when engaging a gear to get moving sometimes.
Yesterday she wouldn't start though after I was out running around.. But she started right up this morning to take the wife to work.. so I'm looking at a Hot Start issue to diagnose. Although when I got back home this morning and shut it off, she cranked right back up a few minutes later.. I hate this part... intermittent failures...can't trust the car to take it out.. grrr
