Purged the coolant using Ahsai's old Rennlist compressed air trick. Replaced the water pump, tensioner pulley, and both idler pulleys. Vacuum-tested the cooling system with the Airlift, then added 5 gallons of new coolant. All of the scary noises @ 1100RPM are gone.
Right as I was finishing up, the wheel guy pulled into my driveway with the two retouched wheels - so I pulled off the loaners and remounted my freshly painted wheels.
It was 95 degrees in the garage today - I'm beat...and I have to go back out after dinner and clean the garage up enough to get at least one car in there (the Corvette - bastard leaks too much to leave it in the driveway).
The bearings are shot on the water pump, but I got to it before any of the impeller vanes broke.
Phew!
Nicely done! No ac in the garage? What a plebeian!
95f! Way too freakin hot to be working in the garage for me even if I had ac in it.

Heh. There was nothing fun about any of it - it took me half an hour of cursing the bottom pump bolt before I remember to loosen the engine cradle and push it away from the water pump.

Not today, but last Saturday [issues with the antique laptop] Did the Saturday drive with our local PCA chapter after the weekly breakfast. Trekked up Hwy 5 on the Kansas side then crossed over into Missouri and through Weston to the end point of Riverwood Winery. A great turnout, considering the typical July heat and humidity. 150+ miles of flawless performance by my old '99 996.
Looks like a blast! Is that you in the bottom picture, next to... Frunky? OR Frunky replica?

My 996 is 3rd from the right in that last photo. Not sure who’s red 944 that was.

Finally posting after finally starting an account.
Yesterday was change the trunk actuator and replace the broken cowl cover.
