I bought the previous version of this one from Advance Auto parts. It looks like the same functions, just a new exterior design. I had a coupon that brought it down to $99 delivered. Advance Auto Parts always has good coupons out there - just Google "Advance Auto promo code". Anyhow, this thing is kick ass. It does everything from trickle charge to a 200 amp jumpstart feature. I have had several other chargers/jump starters. This one is the best I've had.

I bought this one, but only because the Gold, simpler version looked like a return:

I'm happy with it, although I don't need all the bells and whistles. I don't need the trickle charger features, I just don't feel comfortable plugging it in and leaving it running in my 90 year old detached garage.

Exactly! I echo those thoughts. I bought one of those fancy computer monitoring chargers and it would recharge any of my batteries because it thought the batteries were all dead or "internal short". Went to Harbor Freight and bought the $30 special and it has served me well for two years now. Doesn't have any kind of computer nanny to think too much.... just a bare bones basic charger.
I had one of those, in a metal box and all, for over 30 years. Had a trickle feature, motorcycle amp feature as well as 10 amps for cars. It blew up this winter when I was trying spike charge the 300ZX with a dead battery. It "bit" me twice and it went in the garbage. Think I'll wander out to Harbor Freight.
I sure would like to see more pictures of your 300ZX! My father was a big 280Z fan. That was a cool car. Lots of great memories as long as it didn't involve more than two people which meant I had to make some kind of seat where there wasn't a seat. That was years before a seat belt law! Remember, when you kids would climb in the back of a station wagon and play games on trips? Those were the days! Glad I lived! hahaha

Regretting purchasing a used door latch mechanism. The micro switches work fine, but now takes a few tries to open. Doesn't open from inside or outside. I pull the handle, window drops, but it's like the door is still locked. Same deal when pulling from inside. Arghhhhh.

Unfortunately, I only have one pic of the Z since I bought the P-car. Go figure. Will post below and will get out and take some more current pics. Mine is a 2+2 so there are useable back seats if you are less than three feet tall with no legs!

Let us know what you find out on this. Mine has started to do something similar. Lock car and all is well. Unlock car, lift handle, window drops but the door does not open. Second pull, window drops and door doesn't open. Dang. Lock car again and then unlock, everything works right and door opens. Making me nervous. I have lubed everything with white lithium grease thinking the door latch mechanism is sticking, but it has not helped.

Some things I've noticed that may help us narrow down a few different possibilites..
  • If I leave it unlocked overnight, it opens first try without issues.
  • If the car is out in the heat all day, the problem is worse. It may take 10 pulls before the door wants to open.
  • If the car is locked overnight, and opened in the morning, it usually takes 2 pulls before the door opens
  • Door could not be opened from the interior when I was unsuccessful in opening from outside

My current idea is that there maybe an issue with the key tumbler in the door handle.
