Welcome to our newest member - 2003996meloyellow !!! Welcome! Appears to be from north of the border. Don't be shy - we would love to see an intro thread. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that you might have a 2003 speed yellow car.

Again, welcome!!!

If he starts cursing at me after two or three exchanges in a thread, it's definitely him. If you want to try this on your own, suggest that his L.A. "condo" is actually just a dumpy apartment. That's the Ireland litmus test...
A “best-selling author, occasional Gitmo AirBNB guest, and internationally-renowned automotive fashion consultant John Ireland” has shown up on BAT giving the owner of a REALLY nice ‘99 996 a hard time. Is this the person that is being discussed? I missed the fun on R*list...

What I always enjoyed about JI was that every answer to a Porsche problem was to take it back to the dealership. hahaha!

Would the 'real' best-selling author, occasional Gitmo AirBNB guest, and internationally-renowned automotive fashion consultant John Ireland please stand up.

Scale of 9-10; how pissed will Jake be if we start using his YT comment section as a new chatroom?

This week was kind of a bad week for me. I found out a Porsche guy a few blocks over passed away a few years ago due to cancer (colon I believe it was). I kinda suspected as much after he didn't return my last few emails, but then I also didn't want to go stick my nose it if he or the family were suffering since I didn't know him that well.

I noticed a few months ago that I was not seeing his Porsches (986, 955 (Titanium edition), and 957 (Transsyberria)) parked in their usual places. While out for a walk with my son I bumped into one of his neighbors and asked. He's been gone for a few years and the disappearance of the cars was due to his widow and children finally moving away. Turns out I had met him after he was diagnosed (I knew that), but at a time where it looked like he had recovered and was going to be fine. Unfortunately the cancer ended up coming back with a vengeance and there was ultimately nothing they could do.

I found Mike on 6speed while looking for help with a friend's 987 that was having some roof leak issues. Not only did he offer advice, but he also came over to her house to lend a hand and loaned her some more fans to help get the car dried out after he fixed the leak (and another issue with the top that he found). We bumped into each other a few more times before we lost contact and he was always a great guy.

The last I heard of him must have been shortly before he died. I was at my Indy (who Mike also used for the things he didn't do himself) and there was another Transsyberria there that I mistook for Mike's at first. While it wasn't his, he had apparently been in for something the week before. I said I needed to swing by and say hi, but I never did :(

So it is late, but the world has unfortunately lost a good guy.

Sunshine on the horizon, gnat. Always sucks to lose a friend. I had a similar feeling when Tim Wasmer passed and I never met him in real life. I just always admired his car and copycatted his wheel setup because I liked his Arena Red Turbo so well. Then I found he passed from complications due to surgery and felt like I lost a friend all the same.

Hope your spirits lift soon, bud.
