Tire wear
This spring i put new summer tires on my 03 4s, Mich PS2, and they currently have approximately 10k mostly highway miles on them. The car handles great but i noticed when looking at the car from behind that both rear and front tires have a noticeable wear pattern as shown in the attached photos. Ive never had an alignment performed. Normal? Not normal? Appreciate the expertise of the collective. Thanks

Re: Tire wear
That looks like your tire wear is on the outside of the tire and not what I've experienced. Usually the wear is on the inside and why so many people don't see it until really bad. Example was when I had my car PPI'd the tires were just about to the threads on the inside and the PO acted truly surprised. I would get a good four wheel alignment done. Since it appears consistent side to side probably not a suspension wear/damage issue, but have them look around underneath, as well.
Hopefully some others will chime in.

Re: Tire wear
I agree, you need to get your alignment checked and adjusted. I would suggest that the Porsche dealer would be the best place because they will know exactly how to do it (the eccentric bolts on the rear suspension for example).

Re: Tire wear
Its going in this week to Indy for oil change and brake inspection, i'll have them check the alignment while they have the car. They work on lots of Porsche track cars so i'm confident they know how to diagnose and fix alignment issues. Thanks for the feedback.

Re: Tire wear
I disagree. I think the duller areas of the tire is where the wear is. That seems to be supported by the first pick where you can clearly see the negative camber.
My take is that your camber might be on the more aggressive side, but I don't think it is crazy off or anything. As Billy pointed out, it is common for our cars to eat tires from the inside out.
Porsches tend to have a higher degree of negative camber to support hard cornering. If you aren't tracking or doing "spirited" driving then you can have it turned down a bit so you'll have a more even wear across the tire.
As Joe suggests, take it to an alignment shop that knows 911s and how they are supposed to be setup and adjusted. That way you'll get solid advice on your options and have it configured correctly rather than some high school kid pounding on parts with a hammer...

Re: Tire wear
the wear appears to me to be on the inside as well, on all 4 tires. the lighter grey color vs the darker outside.

Re: Tire wear
I just relooked at the second pic and noticed that your fronts are showing the same pattern! Four wheel alignment somewhere that knows these cars is a must. Let us know the results please.Optionman1 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 21, 2020 7:03 am the wear appears to me to be on the inside as well, on all 4 tires. the lighter grey color vs the darker outside.

That is improper Internet etiquette sir. You are supposed to ask a question that garners differing answers and then never report back.Optionman1 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 22, 2020 9:30 am Alignment will be checked on Thursday. Will report back.
Do you want to help people that come looking for solutions/answers or something?

Re: Tire wear
After/Before 4 wheel alignment. Camber was good, toe settings were off, but big cause per mechanic was low rear tire pressure. After just 80 miles its clearly visible that wear is moving further out.
