997.2 19" rims on 996.2

Plan on putting new winter tires on an extra set of 19" rims and then running them on my 2003 4s. Question: The 19" rims have more offset (+7 in front/+6 in rear) than stock 996 18" rims so the rims will move almost 1/4 inch inward. Will this cause rubbing? Are spacers the answer? Thanks

I saw your note on that other forum. I think you're going to have rubbing on the bottom rear inner against the plastic liner without a spacer.

Did you consider a set of 18x10's ET65 and run spacers? The ET47 is like finding unicorn dung but the ET65 is a common wheel on narrow body 996 and on Boxsters. I actually scored a set of 996 C2 wheels 18x8 et 50 and 18x10 et 65 last week for a great price and I plan to mount up some all season or winters on them & run an 18mm spacer in the back. I don't like spacers, though even Porsche put 17mm spacers on the GT2 so I guess good ones are OK.

Thanks. If you’re willing to run spacers that thick i guess I shouldn’t worry about 6mm spacers all around. BTW i found one unicorn 10x18 et47 rim for sale today, $400. Offered $250 but no deal. Might pay full retail for 2nd unicorn if i got the other cheap.

Yes I'm not exceptionally thrilled about spacers, though with all season or winter tires I am sure they are fine. I run 5mm spacers on my track Corrado to keep the tires from rubbing the coilovers.

H&R make spacers up to 50mm! That's rather scary.

Somebody take Frunk's dealer auction access away, like, yesterday.

I can't imagine how harsh a 19" rim and tire would be. I'm on 18" and would rather be on a 17" with a little more sidewall.
