So you have low profile funnels too?sweet victory wrote: ↑Sat May 19, 2018 7:34 pmHopefully a funnel in one of the holes will solve that.32wildbilly wrote: ↑Sat May 19, 2018 7:17 pm How is that going to work? Every time I change my oil I use a giant pan with five inch high sides and still get splatter for the first couple of quarts out. Takes me longer to clean the floor than change the oil. I must be doing something wrong!

Thanks! The garage floor thanks you, as well. Didn't realize that was an option.

Yes! I'm in for this setup. Thanks Dr.Dr_Strangelove (whew!) wrote: ↑Sat May 19, 2018 9:13 pm I got a nice 15 quart low-profile oil drain pan off of Amazon. It has wheels and a screen and everything. To catch the spatter & deflections? A $15 hot water heater pan from Lowes. (I was pretty proud of coming up with that last one, gotta admit.)

Whoa ... this is way ritzier than my setup. For years I’ve used the same cheap-ass blue tarp under my drain pan. The tarp catches the overflow; when I’m done I just clean up the tarp with a few shop towels, roll it up and store it ‘til next time. Works pretty well and only cost me about four grand.Dr_Strangelove (whew!) wrote: ↑Sat May 19, 2018 9:13 pm I got a nice 15 quart low-profile oil drain pan off of Amazon. Ten bucks for the tarp, the rest for a shed. Could’ve been a lot cheaper if Mrs. KoB let me keep the tarp in the garage.
Then again, I’m not sure I’d want to sleep next to that tarp all the time, and this way I’ve got a fallback position if she throws me out of the garage.
Seriously, that looks like a good setup. After a recent bit of sketchy driving by (*ahem*) someone other than me, I find myself in the market for a new low-profile drain pan. I may need to take a closer look at this and give the tarp a well-deserved retirement.

As an FYI, the pan from Harley Davidson was $26, so not too expensive.

Yeah I do kind of the same thing for cleanup. Most of the time I can get away with a few shop towels and then I lean the pan up against the wall behind the garbage cans to get it out of the way. Once in a while I need to bust out the kitty litter to pick up a small puddleKoB wrote: ↑Sun May 20, 2018 1:48 pm Whoa ... this is way ritzier than my setup. The low-pro oil catch bucket was a bit ritzy at $35, but I liked the fact that it had the built-in screen so I don't have to go fishing for crush washers or drain plug when I get extra slippery fingers.

Nah I would rather to never have to pull it out cause if I ever do Schnelly will be the only survivor (and only because mods can't ban admins). My objection to the genocides of the past is that they were far too narrowly focused...32wildbilly wrote: ↑Sun May 20, 2018 5:02 am Naw he just growed up over here and became a mod. Careful I think he is becoming somewhat Barney Fifish and wants to pull out the one ban hammer El Presidenti lets him carry in his top pocket!

Wow, that's some IMPRESSIVE uneven tire wear...even for a 996.
