Had a Macan loaner over the weekend while my P!g refused to take their software updates that were part of the recalls on the diesel recall. Just picked it back up and DAMN I love my P!g.

I've emerged from the woods. Spent a week camping in Dixie National Forest. Rebooted and refreshed! and LOL.

Welcome back! You probably should have stayed another week - nothing to see here except house arrest and burning warships.

Oversteer: You will hit the wall with the rear end.
Horsepower: How hard you will hit the wall.
Torque: How far you will move the wall.

Not the last time I checked. At least one Naval officer has suggested that it may burn to the water line. Yesterday, they were using water cannons to try to cool the plating on the hangar and other lower decks to keep them from burning through - doesn't look like it's working very well. This morning, there was fire all the way up through the bridge, and the forward mast collapsed.

One report I saw indicated that there are no munitions on board...but it's loaded with a million gallons of fuel oil. It's also starting to list starboard. The stink is pretty awful, and we're about 10-12 miles inland.

I'd tow that thing out to sea and use it for live munition target practice.

Just sayin'.

I Tiger cruised the Boxer (LHD-4), the same class as the Bonhomme Richard. Tremendous waste of an asset, but the amount of work/money after days of 1,000 degree fire...just damn. That’s Pearl Harbor-grade salvage...

I read an article indicating they were storing soiled rags and construction supplies in the hold where the fire originated...

I am far from a naval expert so I have a couple of questions. Why would it have a million gallons of fuel oil onboard when it's been under repair since 2018? I suppose there is no way to pump the fuel out at this point.

Save it and rename it the USS Exxon Valdez II

Seriously this could end bad...very bad.

Hundreds of sailors are fighting to save a Navy warship ravaged by fire while the military prepares for the worst: The USS Bonhomme Richard going down in flames, and its million gallons of oil on board spilling into San Diego harbor.

They're still dumping "Bambi" buckets of water on it, but the smoke is WAY down today. Looks like they're getting the fire under control.

2 days of fire @ up to 1,000 degrees - not sure how you get that steel straight again. The Navy is still talking about salvage/repair - but I don't see how it's possible to cut out and replace entire decks. And the wiring...dear God, I wouldn't want to be involved in that wiring mess.

I think your comment above on salvage will ended being correct.
