My parents had to walk up hill both ways in the snow everyday to get to school.

Are you SERIOUS!!?? Hope you were dressed properly. Wing tips/loafers are NOT good snow apparel. Crap I would have been wolf bait or a Donner Party meal.OceanBlue2000 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 16, 2018 6:35 am Well, that was a mess. Finally got home at midnight, 8 hours after I left. My town is on the other side of some decent sized hills. The state closed the westbound highway that my bus takes, but local roads weren't plowed so people got stuck trying to get up the hills, so then they started closing the local roads. My bus driver basically gave up five miles from my house so I had to walk the rest of the way in the snow. Woo HOO!
There are some advantages to living in an area of less than 300k humans...not many advantages... but here is one.

This is why I won't work for a company where I can't apply my "if snow is in the forecast, then I'm not coming into the office" rule. Either you get nightmares like that or you look in your mirror to see an Excursion bearing down on you well over the posted speed limit and at least 3 times faster than the rest of traffic with only a 6" square of ice chiseled off their windshield so they can "see"OceanBlue2000 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 16, 2018 6:35 am Well, that was a mess. It's not my driving I worry about in such conditions, it's all the other morons.

For a large part yes! I passed a radio station if that gives you any indication. What’s awesome is that going down a hill in the snow with cars behind you with tenuous grip is just as fun as going up!
This storm was not supposed to be this bad, which is why the various DPW were way behind salting and plowing. So, I had a coat but was wearing dress shoes. That added an hour or so, the lack of traction. Lots of stories like that around here. A teacher friend had to sleep overnight at her school.

Ending the track season how it started, loaded the car on the trailer while it was snowing. Fun day tomorrow, instructor appreciation day at Summit. Last of 30 days this year. Turned a lot of money into noise but had a good time doing it.

Holy crap, dude...
This further reinforces my snarky rebuttal to anyone who claims "summer is our winter" out here in the desert; "Yeah, well at least we don't have to shovel heat."
Sorry to rub salt in the wound.
Ok, guys, it was fun, I know the way out!

Yep, we had our last big track event of the season last weekend. Two more AXs left, but both are non-point. Hey, I got first place this season for my car class in big track and in AX!

My car is sitting idle leaking coolant in my garage. Ugh! I've caught the expansion tank disease!
