You're the man, man!
Understeer: You will hit the wall with the front end.
Oversteer: You will hit the wall with the rear end.
Horsepower: How hard you will hit the wall.
Torque: How far you will move the wall.
Gone hunting with Alec Baldwin and Dick Cheney. Back soon.

Does SCCA run AX events in your area?
I've noticed a fair amount of 986/996's at recent SCCA events...the youf have noticed that the 986 is a cheap yet legit sports car...

You Cally-for-knee-ah guys have all the fun. I can't even get the local PCA club to hold an Autocross event in a parking lot. Response I got was: "We tried that years ago and nobody was interested." Guess I'll just join the Austin Healey Club. They do one per month and any car can run.

Someone is always running one AutoX event or another in the Meadowlands. Some of them even have permits. And of course the local PCA runs the best one. I plan to do it but haven't yet. I am looking forward to smoking some Hondas.

When the day comes that a clean one of these can be had for $18,000 - $20,000 used, there will be two Civic R owners on this board. These things are growing on me. Plus my neighbor and his wife have a Golf R and a Focus RS, so I feel like I owe it to the neighborhood to complete the circle

I'm the guy who supercharged a Hyundai - I fully endorse your wrist-snapping torque steer.
Understeer: You will hit the wall with the front end.
Oversteer: You will hit the wall with the rear end.
Horsepower: How hard you will hit the wall.
Torque: How far you will move the wall.

Just when you thought the RL lunacy was limited to driving shoe reviews and butthurt threads about searching:
Not personally - but I also don't correct people for "Porsh" vs. "Porsch-uhh."

It is a fun car. Biggest problem is to get the tires to hook-up in first and second gears once the turbo boost comes on which happens fairly low in the rpm range. Re: Good Week @ 996Outpost.com
The Japanese engineers pretty much made the torque steer go away. We had a 81 Honda Prelude and an 89 Accord LXI so I know torque steer. The Type R is very benign compared to previous front wheel drives. No joke. I don't know how they did it(suspension geometry or ECU tweaks or both) but the torque steer is essentially gone.
