Somebody needs to explain to me why our cars have six forward gears if it is not going to be on a race track? The reason I ask is 2nd gear will get you a hefty ticket around town. 5th gear will get you arrested and your car impounded on the interstate. So why put 6th gear in a street car this powerful? I don't get it!

Actually 4th can get your ass thrown in jail and 3rd will get you in trouble too.

5th and 6th are not for racing, they are for fuel economy.

Who cares about gas mileage in cars like these? I ran across such a thread on a Type R forum where they were all hypermiling and reporting their results. I dropped in and shared my mileage of 22.1mpg and that I was doing my best to drive that down. Smiles per mile is my goal with the Type R as it is with the Porsche. I dropped into 6th gear once just to make sure it was there...but Thanks for the clarification. 8-)

What’s the best headlight restoration kit? Noticing some haziness building up in a stripe across the top and bottom.

Manufacturers so that they can continue to import their cars without penalties.

Yeah I've been getting a lot of 22s and a few 18s in the P!g since I got it back

I have used this kit on several cars with BADLY oxidized/hazed headlights; I haven't used it on my 996 (it's got some heavy-duty abrasives, including sandpaper...I'd be REALLY careful throw it at a Litronic housing).

Put it off as long as possible. The fog will be back sooner, you'll polish again, and then it's back even sooner.

The first time I did the 996's I got 2 years out of it. The second time I got 6 months. The last time I only got 3 months. Now I'm only going to do it again when it fails a safety inspection (which it should have this last time).

I just haven't been able to suck up the cost of replacing them (.1 bi-xenon housings are insane).

A rattle-can of UV clear-coat after doing the restoration will make it last a lot longer - but you'll have to gird your loins sufficiently to rattle-can your Porsche...

Trust me there be some butt clinching before taking sandpaper to a $1600 headlight anyway!
