Re: What did you do to/with your 996 today?
Come to think of it, a dealer tech recently told me that they get paid by the task, not by the hour. So they are incentivized to finish up and get on to the next. Bad design holds them up - and frustrates the crap out of any normal person. It makes me think of the 'memes' on Facebook that show bonehead engine design and state "Why mechanics hate engineers" Like mounting a starter between the cylinder banks inside the block, etc. Or the coolant pipe debacle on the Cayennes.

Fixed the vac leak I caused when I swapped out the starter last weekend (vacuum line pulled out of driver-side intake manifold coupler). Then I clayed the hot mess and busted out the DA polisher...

So that's what mine looks like under all the dirt and missing paint?!?!
Nah... Too much work. Dirty is just fine!

I just noticed the LED taillights. How long have you had yours? I’ve had mine for ~4 years so far with no issues. (of course, I just jinxed myself)

I installed 'em less than a year after I picked up the 996 - they've held up pretty well for about 6 years now.

I got to get one of those fancy ass polishers so I can detail this thing myself. Add it to the list!

Don't do it! I remember the good old days when I'd just take it in for a detail - but now I shame myself into doing it myself because I have all the gear.

True statement. I have enough gear to open a shop and I will likely never have to buy another microfiber towel again...but that does not stop me. It's an affliction. These days, motivation is the issue.
