The CV is detached and I left the bolts there for safe keeping. I've re-attached all the nuts and bolts removed for safe (loss prevention) keeping, others are in market zip-lock bags.

drove mine to one of Illinois' fabulous emission testing facility yesterday
(it passed)

only the second drive this year
I suffered a serious setback in my hip replacement recovery by contracting a serious case
of bi-lateral cellulitis

what a huge PITA, felt sick for weeks, leg swollen, skin on fire, lost sleep and zero productivity
Finally after being halfway through a 14 day course of A/B's, I had to summon some German auto therapy
Normally they require you to exit the vehicle, but I asked if I could remain seated for the test and they allowed it

Imagine trying to exit a lowered 911 with a right leg and knee is so swollen it won't bend, I can't even get into
a pair of shoes that fit the pedal box safely (13's)
I did manage to 'fall out' at a Shell station for some V-Power
I tried to drive for about 45 minutes after, but I'm not 100% comfortable with my right foot reaction time

My 928 parts are en route, so I think I'll trust my indy to service that car while I try and regain my health

ATP, I could write off the whole year..was hoping to have my shoulder replaced,...yea, not gonna happen

Sorry to hear that. I hope you get back to 100% soon.

I'm on the mend, slowly
No, not arthritis. I was in an industrial accident in '00

see my thread / post here form January in Intro's

by the way, my 996 performed perfectly, 6 months is far to long a period between drives

I remember the pics of the removed ball and socket including the subsequent comparison to an IMSB! I had forgotten about the Industrial accident, which btw SUX! Was the old socket the metal/metal type as opposed to the metal/plastic/metal they use today? I'm sorry you have to go through this stuff and wish you a speedier recovery. Glad the 996 performed well for you. I bet you were having withdrawal symptoms after six months.

Wow, I thought I had it bad when my failed 3 level fusion (lower back) in 07 left me with an infection that almost killed me in the hospital...
Glad you're on the mend and I hope all continues to go well.
