I just listed the 2017 Carrara White over Garnet Turbo on Rennlist & Facebook Marketplace.

https://rennlist.com/forums/market/1370897

It really didn't need much of anything. I put a set of Falken Azenis FK460 UHP all season tires on it. I did an oil & filter change, and then went through the Intermediate Service checklist for inspections, topping off fluids, etc. I had ordered a full set of brake rotors, pads and hardware as I was going to swap them out. But, once I got it on the lift and looked more closely, the rear pads have about 60% life and the fronts have about 40% life left. So, no sense in swapping them out. I did the 2-bolt timing chain cover repair, but both of the factory aluminum bolts were intact when I pulled them out. Still replaced them with the new steel bolts and spacers just to be safe.

So, I'm not getting much action on the 2017 Macan Turbo on Facebook Marketplace. The ad was screwed up when I first placed it, and I think that eliminated the "splash" you normally get when you first list a car. Facebook Marketplace initially listed it as a "base" model Macan, so it looked way overpriced compared to the other listings. Then, when I submitted an edit to correct that, it deleted all of my photos and the video. Then, after I corrected that, I noticed a couple of small typos (my fault) that I fixed. So, there were like 4 edits in the first day of the listing. Bottom line, it should be drawing more interest than it has in the week since I listed it. My cars are desirable models in good colors with good options priced at just a couple of thousand over wholesale price. So, they always sell right away, normally to the first person who views the car. I've only had 2 friends test drive it, and they both loved it. But, both got shot down by their wives. I know them both well enough that they would have told me if it was something other than that.

Consequently, I just submitted it to Pcarmarket. I should hear back within 72 hours as to whether it is accepted for auction. It was odd that in their drop-down menu of Porsche models, they had both a base model and a GTS option, but no Turbo option. So, I had to submit as "Other Enthusiast Vehicle".

I decided to give Pcarmarket a shot since my last Bring A Trailer auction netted an underwhelming result. Plus, Pcarmarket says they will get the auction going in as little as 72 hours whereas BaT can take weeks to go live on your car. I suspect BaT is better for non-Porsches than Pcarmarket is, but since this is "P-car" (well, P-SUV), and I've never used Pcarmarket, I figured it would be worth a shot.

The other thing I noted was when looking at classified advertising listings on eBay, the sellers (all dealers) were listing their vehicles at below wholesale value. I've been hawking the Macan market on Manheim & ADESA (dealer wholesale auctions) almost daily since June, so I know what the dealers are paying for them. Several of the listings on eBay last night were at below wholesale, so there must be something weird going on there - they must be adding a sh!t-ton of fees or other add-ons or maybe pulling the old "hey, that car just sold" when someone contacts them on the ad. Otherwise, they would just run the car through the auction and get more than their asking price, plus not have to hassle with a consumer buying the car.

I'll let you know how the Pcarmarket experience goes.

Thanks. I heard back from PCarMarket. They would take it on a "no reserve" auction. I'd do "no reserve" on BaT, but don't know PCar well enough to feel comfortable doing that, so I'll hold off.

I lowered the asking price to $37,980, and that's drawing some interest. So, we'll give that until the end of December. Someone just listed a similar Macan (white over red) up in Lincoln on Facebook Marketplace at $39,500. It has 20k fewer miles, but it's also just a GTS (not a Turbo) and it isn't optioned nearly as well as mine. I think $39,500 is a reasonable price for that car, though. Plus, it shows that mine is priced on the low end of the market. We'll see.

Still not getting the 2017 Macan Turbo sold, which is surprising because the prices at the auction are holding steady. I lowered the price to $36,980 today. I don't think I could buy this same year/make/model/condition/options Macan for much less than this at the auction. There was a 2017 GTS that went through last week that wasn't nearly as well optioned nor in as nice of shape, and of course the GTS still has the 3.0 liter versus the Tubro's 3.6 liter engine. That car went for $34,500, plus another $750 in auction fees. Across the board, the GTS models sell for about $3,000 to $4,000 less than the Turbos. This car should have been a relatively easy sell at $38,000 or $37,500 for sure. I think it's just the time of the year.

Funny story on myself: Last AutoX the guy that brought his Boxster parked next to me and came over to chat. After talking about the 996 we talked about his Boxster. I noticed it had the garnet colored seats. During the conversation he said his wife wants him to sell it because she hates the seat color. I defended the color...

I hate myself when I lie.

BTW my fast time was 2 seconds faster than his. So while mid-engine cars are good for AutoX big horsepower helps equalize the engine hanging out back vehicle.🤗
