Would love the hear how the Cerakote holds up. Have you tried removing the wheels with an impact after they've been coated?

Currently running BFGoodrich G-Force Rival S.
Front: 245/40/18
Rear: 315/30/18
I'm really enjoying these tires. Not noisy, have very chunky/firm side walls, and have lasted far longer than I thought they would. Been daily driving these for over a year now, and still lots of tread left on the rear tires. (Will take a measurement in the future) They're faaaarrr better than R888's in every way in my opinion. They just came out with a new version called G Force Rival S 1.5, which are lighter and seem to be getting good reviews. I'm hoping that the OEM will release more sizes, as they currently do not have a tire wide enough to fit my rear wheel. The only 18" tire that tirerack has listed is a 245/40/18. They have the older rival S in the 315/30/18, but not sure I would want to mix the 1.0 and 1.5 generation tires.

Re: Tires, tires, tires.... ("shoes" to Schnelly)
I picked up a set of BBS 18" MY02 lightweight wheels and had them refinished gloss black. Needing some tires for an upcoming family trip I grabbed a set of Falken Azenis FK510 (245/40, 265/35/18) Having just completed the trip in the mountains, dry and rain driving.. they are quiet and grip well. I haven't pushed them hard since the family was along in the car, but I will soon and report back. Cost from Ebay was $550 shipped.. mount and balance at a friends shop was $60.. super happy with the setup so far.

I used a soft socket to take the old lug bolts off and again used a soft socket to install the new logs on the new wheels and torqued them, have not used an impact as of yet. Perhaps Cerakote is a good way to go as long as they are not gorilla handled.
Haven’t been able to take the car out lately since I was out of town, but as soon as I get a nice sunny day I’ll shoot and post some pictures.

Re: Tires, tires, tires.... ("shoes" to Schnelly)
225 /40 R18 front and 265/35 R18 rear - BF Goodrich G-Force Comp 2 a/s
Mounted on Victor Equipment 'Innsbruck' wheels
I did not buy them - they came on the car when I got it Nov 2017
They have pretty good grip for an all-season, and I have loved them....until last Saturday.
On the interstate heading over to Independence, MO for the start of a PCA drive, I started noticing more road noise - mostly from the rear. Also some vibration. The car does sit in the garage a lot during the week...OK, most of the week...but I thought flat spotting was temporary until the tires heated up.
By the end of the 100+ mile drive and the subsequent highway drive home, they got REAL noisy and the vibration from the back was noticeable. Drove me crazy.
I've checked for missing wheel weights, tire damage, cupping, etc., but I nothing that I could see.
The date codes indicate that these tires just passed the four-year mark.
I'm wondering if it would be worth having a trusted shop check things out...or...due to the age and moderate wear...I should start shopping. What research I've done indicates that noise, vibration and run-out can just happen with age and wear. But four years?
Everyone raves about Michelin, but I've had good luck with Bridgestone....on other cars....and these are NOT just "other cars". At least Tire Rack makes it easy to see what's out there.

Re: Tires, tires, tires.... ("shoes" to Schnelly)
I’m running the Bridgestone Potenza RE980 A/S - now have about 5,000 miles on them with no visible wear. When I bought my car the tires were badly cracked so went with these. Our GTI came with the RE97 A/S and they now have 40,000 miles on them - will replace in the next 1,000 miles.Einsteiger wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2019 4:15 pm 225 /40 R18 front and 265/35 R18 rear - BF Goodrich G-Force Comp 2 a/s

So far so good on the 996 - I wanted A/S so that I can drive the car safely in cold weather, and have driven in 3-4” of fresh snow with no issues (poor planning). Have had very good luck with Bridgestone tires on a number of different cars so tend to prefer them all else being equal.
Cost on the RE980 at Tire Rack was around $650 for the set of four tires, so less expensive than some other options as well.

Re: Tires, tires, tires.... ("shoes" to Schnelly)
I bought 19’ kumho ecstas over the winter. I like them I guess, I don’t think I push the car hard enough that the tire matters. The price was really right, and I was wary about the brand until I read somewhere that they are the suppliers for a GT car? Maybe I made that up.
