Motor and tranny are out from under the car.
I just had to raise the rear and extend my jack stands 3 more clicks.
A good floor jack, common sense and finding the correct balance worked...I do wish I had a helper though!

Motor's going out to 9xx in Cali.

Great news, Bill. Keep us updated. Take lots of pictures! Not just for us, but for your personal portfolio on the car. Think about it... you may want to take the car to a show and provide a story of how you restored the car back to life and it could help with a future sell if you plan to get rid of it. ;)

I need to finish my other project also...

Awesome!

But I gotta ask ya... what's in the air in Hawaii? That m96 motor has some unique patina. (no offense) I look at my '02 motor that spent most of it's life between Virginia and Florida and it's still has a nice clean look to it. Not that it matters at all, but curious if this is something common with the climate on your island.

Keep up the good work!

A lot has to do with how the car is used. Our's has spent it's entire life in VA and it looks similar to Bill's (though more gunky than oily). Our's, however, has never seen a garage and is driven in any and all conditions. It's even known a few dirt and gravel roads in it's time too.

I've already informed the eldest kid he is not getting mine when I "move on" as he lives down a gravel/dirt road and he is the only Porsche nut in the whole family. It was his choice!

In the dark past I had a black Honda LXI and approx. twice per week I had to drive down a dirt/rock road. It is simply amazing where dirt powder can get to in a car...especially noticeable in a black car. Years later I pulled off a door skin to replace the window regulator(probably killed by the dust) and there was about 1/2" deep of that crap everywhere inside the door!
