I agree. Peeling off the bumper clear-coat to save 0.5 grams does seem a bit OCD.

Well, a buddy and I spent 10 hours banging away on the car yesterday. Swapped everything on to the new engine, got it in the car, got everything bolted in and hooked up everything (narrator voice: they did not) and refilled all the fluids and turned the key and.... Nothing. Not a click not a whirr, not a thing.

Missed a wire or something in there. But it looks like a car again.

Well, I'm no Miata expert, but did you forget to install that big thing sitting over there on the left of the pic, in the corner of your garage? It looks like it might be important.

A snowblower? I don't think that will matter.

God bless the power of the internet. "I bet the white striped wire for the oil pressure sensor is plugged into the starter instead of the solid black one, they have the same plugs and it's a common mistake"

Switched them, and we have a running engine.

Congrats! Now go wear out some tires!

Well, I'm out of things to check, double check and triple check. Car is back together and runs. Only the track will reveal whether I screwed something up.

Speaking of, weren't you and gnat supposed to go racing this weekend? What's up with that?
