Update: The seatpost mount I used suffered catastrophic failure - looks like fatigue from the vibration - and the damn battery fell off.
The beam failed just past the weld - I was not anticipating this mode of failure.

This mount is much more damped; I think that, plus the much chunkier beam, should result in a longer life span. If I make any bikes for other folks, I'll use a 3-point rack that will tolerate loads much better - I just like the look of this seatpost mount.

Always a good resume of a welder that the metal itself fails rather than the weld (bonus for the nice looking Tig weld)
Given the weight and that it's hung so far out, I'd add some braces down to the rear wheel frame. That should take the strain off that single joint.
