Thanks. The Type R is an @ $35k car so nowhere near an E class AMG, but I'm leaning towards enclosed cause I'm sure your dealer has access to more insurance coverage than I do.
They do, but you don't want the million dollar deductible to go with it.
True that!

The only nugget of wisdom I have for you is you'll probably get a closer pick-up-drop-off window and a lower rate if you can find a company that is based in either your origin or your destination. I surprisingly had a hard time finding a company that was fine with stopping in Vegas on their way to LA. Everybody wanted to drop the car off in LA...

Thanks Dr. Never considered that issue. I did ask Reliable Auto Transport for a bid and they declined as not on one of their current routes. I'll search local on each end.

FRUNKenstein wrote: Fri Dec 07, 2018 7:45 am I have shipped several cars over the years. I have only used enclosed one time and that was because the shipping company upgraded for free. I've never had a problem with an open shipment. If the price difference was minimal, I'd say fine, but if it is 30% more, then I'd go open. I mean, we're talking about a Honda Type R, right?

Seems like I normally end up using Reliable Auto Transport. One tip - if you type your contact info into one of those automatic bid generators online, you will be hounded incessantly for the next month by phone and email.
Holy Crap! FRUNK you are so correct about the shippers. It is either a cutthroat business or they are all starving for business. Calls, texts, emails are all blowing up. Next one that calls at 5:45 a.m. is going to get an earful!

You might try this company. Jake Raby/FSI is connected to it and they seem to be able to get a Porsche to and from any location rather efficiently. They act as a broker.
