LN Engr Spin-on oil filter adapter - anyone installed one themselves?
I was looking at one of these as a possible add-on to add a little more margain of safety for the old M96. Has anyone done this as a DIY, or is this better left to a trustworthy shop? I'd like to do my own oil changes, but it seems that the LN adapter might make life a little easier and the motor last a wee bit longer. Their FilterMag seems like a worthwhile add as well.

There's no reason not to do this yourself:
* Remove the old plastic filter cover*.
* Remove the old filter element*.
* Install the spin-on adapter and torque as specified by the instructions.
* Apply a thin film of engine oil to the gasket on a new spin-on filter and install as you would on any other car.
Like everything else involving 996 routine maintenance, getting the car off the ground will absolutely be the most time-consuming part of the project.
*Full of oil - so you'll want to do this with a cool engine, a drain pan, and some shop rags handy.

Understeer: You will hit the wall with the front end.
Oversteer: You will hit the wall with the rear end.
Horsepower: How hard you will hit the wall.
Torque: How far you will move the wall.

Yep! Put mine on a couple of years ago. Easy. Just make sure you oil all the orings before you put the adapter on. Torque it on as instructed. Seems fairly low torque, but mine has never come off. Bit of a pain to cut open the metal filter can to examine the filter element. Just get a good filter cutter tool. Thought about FilterMag never followed through.Einsteiger wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2019 10:41 am I was looking at one of these as a possible add-on to add a little more margain of safety for the old M96. Here's some madness for y'all - last time I changed my oil, I drained the filter and disposed of it WITHOUT CUTTING IT OPEN.
Insane, right?

thanks. I'll have to see if the floor jack will get it high enough for me, or whether I can parlay that into a good excuse to order in a Quik Jack.
